Ryan Gosling Confirmed to Perform “I’m Just Ken” at Oscars

Months of speculation come to an end as it’s officially announced that Ryan Gosling will take the stage at the Oscars to perform “I’m Just Ken” from the movie “Barbie.”
Sources disclosed to Variety that the acclaimed actor will be showcasing his singing talent during the 96th annual Academy Awards ceremony scheduled for March 10. Despite inquiries, the Academy has chosen to remain tight-lipped on the matter.
The question of whether Gosling would accept the opportunity to demonstrate his vocal abilities on such a prestigious platform has been lingering since both he and the song received nominations in January.
In an early February cover story with Variety, Gosling addressed the speculation, revealing that the Academy hadn’t extended an invitation to him yet. Expressing his openness to the idea, he remarked, “It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it.”
Mark Ronson, the co-writer of the song alongside Andrew Wyatt, expressed his fervent desire for Gosling to grace the Oscars stage with his performance during the Grammys.
When asked whether an alternative singer might step in if Gosling declined to perform “I’m Just Ken” live, Ronson firmly responded, “No. I think if Ryan doesn’t do it then we’re not doing it.”
“I’m Just Ken” stands as one of the two tracks from “Barbie” nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. The other contender, “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas, clinched the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media, triumphing over “I’m Just Ken” and the fellow “Barbie” hit “Dance the Night” by Dua Lipa.
