Rachel Brosnahan Set to Bring a Fresh Perspective to Lois Lane in Upcoming Superman: Legacy Film

Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan has secured the coveted role of Lois Lane in the highly anticipated Superman: Legacy, where she will share the screen with David Corenswet. In an exclusive interview on the Golden Globes red carpet, Brosnahan offered a glimpse into her collaboration with director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran, as they contribute to the evolving DC Universe.

During the conversation, Brosnahan shared insights into the creative discussions with David Corenswet and James Gunn, emphasizing their efforts to carve out a unique space for the film within the Superman canon. “We’ve been having a lot of great conversations, David and I, with James Gunn, the director,” Brosnahan revealed to Extra. “We’ve been talking a lot about where this project fits into the canon of the Supermans that we know. So hopefully, this’ll be… we’ll be putting our own stamp on things.”

When asked about Lois Lane’s iconic glasses, Brosnahan kept the details under wraps, stating, “I don’t know, actually. Maybe. We haven’t gotten that far in the fittings yet.”

Scheduled for a grand premiere on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy boasts an impressive ensemble cast. In addition to Brosnahan and Corenswet, the superhero film features Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer. The star-studded lineup also includes Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Sean Gunn, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Isabel Merced, and Nathan Fillion.

Director James Gunn has clarified that Superman: Legacy will not be an origin story. Instead, the film will delve into Superman’s journey as he reconciles his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing in Smallville, Kansas, as Clark Kent. Serving as the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, Superman navigates a world where kindness is often perceived as old-fashioned, guided by the principles of human compassion.
