We pick up at the temple where Noah’s mom disapproves of Joanne, calling her a “shiksa” and questioning Noah’s choice. Noah, eager to leave, gets delayed by various temple attendees. Meanwhile, Joanne’s sister, Morgan, calls and insists they need to rebrand their podcast for Spotify, convincing Joanne to leave before Noah can meet her. We’re also introduced to Noah’s eccentric older brother, Sasha, who joins them for drinks.
At the bar, Joanne learns the meaning of “shiksa,” while Morgan has a heated exchange with Sasha. Joanne and Noah begin to bond over the podcast, sharing secrets until Esther, Sasha’s wife, shows up, revealing that Noah is nearly engaged. This misunderstanding causes tension, but Noah later clears things up, explaining his complicated relationship with Rebecca.
The episode ends with Noah and Joanne sharing a kiss, though Rebecca’s persistent calls cast a shadow over their budding relationship.
Episode 2 keeps the momentum going, but the pacing feels off. Joanne and Noah’s relationship, which is supposed to be budding, feels rushed. While the chemistry between the two leads is undeniable, their whirlwind romance leaves little room for the tension to simmer naturally. We go from misunderstandings to a kiss in what feels like a blink.
The supporting characters, like Sasha and Esther, offer some humorous moments, but they remain underdeveloped. Morgan’s role as Joanne’s sister and business partner, however, continues to shine. Their dynamic adds depth to the podcast subplot, which is arguably the most interesting part of the episode.
