Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ Trailer Certified UA 13+, Set for June 20 Release

The sports drama, a thematic successor to ‘Taare Zameen Par’, features Aamir Khan as a coach guiding specially-abled children towards Paralympic dreams.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted a UA 13+ certificate to the trailer of Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. The 3-minute and 29-second trailer, cleared by the Mumbai Regional Office on April 25, 2025, offers audiences an extended glimpse into the film’s inspiring narrative.

Produced by Aamir Khan Films LLP and directed by RS Prasanna, known for his adept handling of socially driven narratives, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is a thematic sequel to the 2007 critically acclaimed ‘Taare Zameen Par’. While the original focused on a dyslexic child’s journey, the new film shifts its lens to a group of specially-abled children aspiring to compete in the Paralympics, under the mentorship of an alcoholic coach portrayed by Khan.

The film also stars Genelia Deshmukh and Darsheel Safary, who returns to the screen after his memorable role as Ishaan Awasthi in the original film. Despite initial speculations, the trailer will not be attached to Salman Khan’s Eid release ‘Sikandar’ but is expected to debut alongside Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid 2’, aiming for maximum visibility among theater audiences.

Initially slated for a May 30 release, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has been postponed to June 20, 2025. The decision, as reported by Pinkvilla, was made to ensure a better box office window and avoid clashes with other major films. A source close to the development stated, “Aamir is looking to capitalize on the open run in the month of June. Initially, he was contemplating arriving on May 30, but a June 20 release is giving him a two-week clear run at the box office.”

As anticipation builds, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ promises to deliver a heartwarming tale that continues the legacy of its predecessor, exploring new emotional terrains and highlighting the indomitable spirit of its characters.
