MOVIE REVIEW:

Love for your nation is not improper, but you shouldn’t have such animosity towards a neighboring country, a wise man counsels a young woman in the movie. In another scenario, she questions fiercely whether there isn’t anyone from her group after being handed a few references with all the names belonging to one faith. Sita Ramam, a film by Hanu Raghavapudi, is much more than just a romantic drama. The central theme of Hanu, Raj Kumar Kandamudi, as well as Jay Krishna’s narrative, script and dialogue is that humanity is more important than conflict, division, and religion. The concept is always pertinent, especially now as debates of “them” and “us” appear to be dominating the conversation.

The 1960s are depicted in a dreamlike manner. Lt. Ram is stationed in the snow-covered hills of Kashmir’s borders. His fellow soldiers are his entire world. Shatru portrays a close friend, Sumanth plays a resentful officer named Brigadier Vishnu Sharma, and Major Selvan plays his commanding officer (Gautham Menon). Ram is referred to as a “lone ranger” by an All India Radio journalist (Rohini Molleti), who asks listeners to write to him. Letters keep coming in, notably, one from Sita reminding Ram that he is not an orphan as well as that he currently has a wife at home.

Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates all forbade the viewing of the movie. The restriction was put in place because the movie insulted religious sensibilities, according to a News18 article. On August 11, 2022, the movie was released after the United Arab Emirates embargo was later lifted.

The Director of the movie is Hanu Raghavapudi and the Producers are C. Ashwini Dutt and Swapna Dutt. The movie deserves 4.0 rating. The cast includes Dulquer Salmaan as Lieutenant Ram. Mrunal Thakur as Sita Mahalakshmi / Princess Noor Jahan, Rashmika Mandanna as Afreen / Waheeda, Sumanth as Brigadier Vishnu Sharma and Tharun Bhascker as Balaji.

The movie can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video. The movie is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and produced by Swapna Cinema and Vyjayanthi Movies.
