Storyline –
Vikrant Rona is a 2022 Indian Kannada-language movie with great adventure. Even as children disappear, strange sightings occur in a fictional community during an unknown period. Man, or perhaps the devil is the offender? Could Vikrant Rona (Kiccha Sudeep), the tough, new cop in the abandoned town, solve the case and find the guilty parties when everyone is a suspect?

Anup Bhandari’s darker fantasy adventure (in 3D), which was produced in Kannada and with Hindi dubbing, is a valiant effort. It has a moody feel about it. This genre has not been explored in many Indian movies before. The director, though, struggles to give his story a focus and direction. Before becoming a supernatural-horror mystery, a riddle, and a western, it starts as a kid’s fairy tale. Additionally, the plot lacks a consistent timeline. But without any character or plot development, the first half meanders aimlessly and then drags on for an eternity. Everything we see is Kiccha Sudeep portraying a smoldering hero in slow motion as a startling background score prevents dread from ever setting in. This plot drags for a total of at least 2.5 hours and 30 minutes, making you lose patience. Assorted love stories plus songs with little relevance to the plot take up more screen time.

Never has the second half been much more incongruous, strangely. The actual beginning of the movie is in the second half, in which there is a story in some form. This mystery which unfolds a little too late is strong and compelling. This movie seemed to have the potential to be an outstanding thriller if it had gained speed earlier.
Visually, the film tries to stay true to the ambitious grandeur of the genre after spending four years in production and being shot including during Covid. Any fight scene that occurs in the rain is especially captivating and beautiful to look at. If you can get beyond the poor first half, the second is extremely interesting and enjoyable. Jacqueline Fernandez’s dazzling dance, piercing song (Ra RaRakkamma), and powerful presence give the story energy.
Probably would not mind this movie if you’re up for a respectable horror mystery presented in a loud plus dramatic style with a special emphasis on Kiccha Sudeep’s swag. If indeed the creators cut out the extraneous filler, Vikrant Rona could develop into a respectable mystery series in the future filled with more sinister experiences. They wish this fascinating fantasy had stood to the situation sooner given its tremendous potential.
The Telugu version of Vikrant Rona will be accessible online stream beginning September 16 on Disney+ Hotstar. It has recently been made known that the movie would also be available for OTT streaming through Tamil. Vikrant Rona will begin streaming in Disney plus Hotstar around September 16th, according to a tweet from earlier from Disney+ Hotstar Tamil. I will rate the movie 4 stars.
