Rating: 2.5/5
Plot Overview:
In this comic thriller, Vicky (Rajkumar Rao), a mehendi artist, and Vidya (Tripti Dimri), a doctor, embark on married life with an unconventional choice: recording their first night together. Their privacy shatters, however, when a break-in results in their intimate video being stolen, pushing the couple into a frantic mission to retrieve the tape and prevent it from going viral. As they navigate increasingly absurd situations, Vicky and Vidya’s hunt for the lost CD unfolds in a series of chaotic events. At 149 minutes, the film tries to mix humor with suspense, though it struggles to stay consistently engaging.
Performance & Review:
Rajkumar Rao brings natural flair to his role, carrying much of the film’s comedic weight with his effortless delivery. He shines as “Vicky,” a nod to his popular character from Stree. Tripti Dimri, on the other hand, doesn’t quite match Rao’s comic timing, occasionally falling short on expression. While her character Vidya stands out in the first half, where she effectively handles the role’s lighter demands, her performance wanes as the plot thickens.
Director Raaj Shaandilyaa sets up a promising premise, but as the story progresses, several scenes feel disconnected from the main plot, particularly in the second half. The introduction of three quirky criminals—Sunil, Bulbul, and Shetty—does little to enhance the storyline, ultimately diluting the film’s purpose. Supporting actors Rakesh Bedi, Mukesh Tiwari, Tiku Talsania, and Mallika Sherawat do justice to their roles, though their potential seems underutilized.
Final Verdict:
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has moments of humor, with crowd-pleasing one-liners and an entertaining pre-climax. However, its disjointed narrative and missed opportunities make it less impactful. With Rajkumar Rao’s stellar presence but a weak script and pacing issues, the film lands a modest 2.5 out of 5 stars, offering only sporadic entertainment in an otherwise forgettable journey.
