Rating: 2/5

Plot Summary:

Set in Syria’s Badiyat al-Sham Desert, the film opens with Parker (Jessica Alba) leading a high-octane pursuit of terrorists in CGI-laden vehicles reminiscent of Lego blocks traversing the sands. Following her father’s suspicious death, Parker, a Special Forces commando, returns to her hometown to manage his bar. There, she uncovers potential ties to local politician Ezekiel Swann (Anthony Michael Hall) and his underground arms trading operations.

Review:

“Trigger Warning” unfolds as a predictable tale of revenge and uncovering hidden truths. The Swann family, led by Senator Ezekiel (Hall), Sheriff Jesse (Mark Webber), and arms dealer Elvis (Jake Weary), are entangled in a web of corruption and greed. As Parker delves deeper into her father’s death, she confronts escalating threats and betrayal, culminating in a climactic showdown at the Swann compound.

Jessica Alba delivers a commendable performance in her attempt at a John Wick-style avenger role, but the film’s uneven execution and clichéd plot hinder its impact. The action sequences, though visually striking, fail to compensate for the lack of depth in character development and narrative coherence. Despite its moments of intensity, “Trigger Warning” struggles to rise above mediocrity, leaving audiences with a forgettable cinematic experience.

In conclusion, “Trigger Warning” earns its modest rating for ambition but ultimately falls short of making a lasting impression. Jessica Alba’s valiant effort isn’t enough to salvage the film from its narrative pitfalls and lackluster storytelling.
