PLOT

India’s intelligence is surprised by the potential threat of Pakistan and China attacking. IB agent Dev Jammwal (Vidyut Jammwal) develops a plan to protect the nation by blocking Indian airspace.

The events of “IB 71” develop with the enthusiasm of a Hollywood thriller, moving quickly to the heart of the subject and keeping the narrative’s central theme at the forefront of the film’s narrative. Unlike a corny cinematic portrayal, the adventurous escapades in the movie radiate genuineness.

REVIEW

Recent Indian films showcase exceptional intelligence teams. IB 71 impresses with a riveting plot and craft. Inspired by actual events, it explores the lead-up to the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War and the transformation of East Pakistan into Bangladesh. The filmmakers deserve respect for choosing this unusual episode from India’s sometimes-amazing history of intelligence. This thriller keeps you on edge as the Intelligence team’s operation unfolds quickly.

A special note should be made of this movie’s art direction and photography, which magnificently conjured up the setting of India in 1971. With overhead images that have never before captured Dal Lake’s splendour, the scenes there are breathtaking.

Vidyut Jammwal portrays the figure with the utmost discipline and control. Except for two action scenes, Vidyut primarily uses his acting talents and gives an actual performance. Interestingly, he has plenty of opportunities this time to show off his acting skills, which he does deftly. Anupam Kher returns to a part that he excelled in before, and he does so once more. Vishal Jethwa, who plays the role of Qasim, is the one who shines in the movie, nevertheless.

He gives a remarkable portrayal as a restless Kashmiri rebel, striking a balance between brutality and accidental hilarity. Sankalp Reddy takes the helm and directs the action with clarity and focus. However, the movie’s background score will undoubtedly distract spectators from an otherwise thrilling encounter. At times, the obnoxious background music can be oppressive and unsettling.

Rating: 4/5

It makes our intelligence network proud. With a nearly two-hour running duration, the film maintains a narrative that keeps the viewer interested, ensuring there is never a dull moment. This movie ticks all the right buttons if you enjoy historical action thrillers. Because of these things, it is rated four out of five stars.

Sankalp Reddy is the director, and Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vidyut Jammwal, and Abbas Sayyed are the producers. Vishal Jethwa, Faizan Khan, Ashwath Bhatt, Vidyut Jammwal, and Anupam Kher are among the cast members. It became available on May 12, 2023. At least a month after its theatrical premiere, it will be available on OTT.
