Ratings: 3.5/5

“Alyad Palyad,” directed by Pritam S.K. Patil and featuring Sandeep Pathak, Gaurav More, Suresh Viswakarma, Bhagyam Jain, and other notable actors, captivates viewers with an intriguing trailer and an equally engaging film. However, the trailer reveals much of the storyline, leaving little surprise for the audience. Despite this, the film merits a solid 3.5/5 rating.

Plot

The film stars Makarand Deshpande and is set on an island where villagers vacate for three days each year, believing that spirits roam and kill anyone found in the village during this period. The narrative takes a turn when three friends and the Sarpanch’s daughter find themselves trapped in the village during these three days.

This setup leads to a series of comedic and thrilling events that keep viewers hooked. The blend of humor and suspense adds a balanced dynamic to the movie, suggesting it could perform well at the box office over time.

Review

“Alyad Palyad” shares similarities with “Munjya,” another horror-comedy set in Konkan. In this film, an island village upholds a tradition where residents leave for three specific days each year, believing that spirits emerge and attack anyone in sight. During these days, the villagers stay across the river.

The film’s flashbacks unfold slowly, which might test the audience’s patience. While the lead actress appears somewhat disconnected, Makarand Deshpande’s portrayal of an Aghori is outstanding.

This year, three friends—Chatur, Pankya, and Kishya—visit the village, which is Pankya’s hometown. Bored with college life during the three-day period, they decide to enter the village and document the events to disprove the villagers’ beliefs. They persuade a boatman to take them across, unaware that the Sarpanch’s daughter has secretly joined them.

Overall, “Alyad Palyad” delivers a mix of comedy and thrills, providing an entertaining experience despite some narrative pacing issues.
