Vidyut Jammwal Joins ‘Street Fighter’ as Dhalsim in Explosive Hollywood Debut
The Bollywood action star brings fire and flexibility to Legendary’s live-action reboot, joining a star-studded cast alongside Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, and Roman Reigns.

Bollywood’s action dynamo Vidyut Jammwal is officially stepping into Hollywood — and he’s bringing fire with him. Jammwal has been cast as Dhalsim, the fire-breathing yogi, in Legendary Entertainment’s upcoming Street Fighter live-action adaptation, based on Capcom’s iconic video game series.
This marks a significant career leap for Jammwal, known for his high-octane roles in films like Commando and Khuda Haafiz. The martial arts-trained actor has reportedly been highly selective about his Hollywood debut, and Street Fighter — a globally beloved franchise — is the launchpad he’s chosen to introduce himself to Western audiences.
Originally introduced in Street Fighter II (1991), Dhalsim is a fan-favorite character: a peaceful Indian monk who enters the brutal world of street fighting to support his family. With his fire-wielding powers and elastic limbs, the character is both spiritual and savage — a balance Jammwal seems uniquely suited for.

The film’s ensemble already boasts a blockbuster lineup. Andrew Koji plays Ryu, Noah Centineo is Ken, Callina Liang takes on Chun-Li, while WWE stars Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns step in as Guile and Akuma, respectively. Jason Momoa will play the beastly Blanka, 50 Cent joins as Balrog, and David Dastmalchian will portray the franchise’s big bad, M. Bison. Other cast members include Orville Peck (Vega), Andrew Schulz (Dan Hibiki), and Hirooki Goto (E. Honda).
The Street Fighter franchise, launched in 1987, has become one of gaming’s biggest global sensations, selling over 55 million units worldwide. Its legacy includes multiple game sequels, animated series, and two prior live-action adaptations — though none have matched the current project’s scale or star power.
