Varun Dhawan Reflects on Childhood Memories with Shraddha Kapoor: From Rejected Proposals to Dance Competitions
The actor shares humorous anecdotes of their early friendship, including a childhood proposal and a ‘filmy’ confrontation.
In a recent interview, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan reminisced about his childhood friendship with actress Shraddha Kapoor, revealing amusing incidents that highlight their longstanding bond.
Dhawan recounted that at the age of eight, during a visit to the mountains, Kapoor confessed her affection for him. Perplexed by the situation, he declined her proposal, not understanding romantic feelings at such a young age.
Two years later, at Kapoor’s tenth birthday party, Dhawan found himself confronted by three to four boys who were also fond of her. They questioned his lack of interest in Kapoor and insisted he should reciprocate her feelings. When he expressed his focus on the ongoing dance competition rather than on girls, the boys initiated a physical altercation, resulting in a scene reminiscent of a Bollywood film. Dhawan defended himself and ultimately won the dance competition, with Kapoor securing third place.
Reflecting on their teenage years, Dhawan recalled attending a dandiya event at Kapoor’s school when they were around 15 or 16 years old. During the festivities, he accidentally struck someone with a dandiya stick and attempted to hide. Amidst the commotion, he noticed Kapoor approaching in slow motion, looking exceptionally beautiful. It was at that moment he realized he might have made a mistake by rejecting her years earlier. Subsequently, they rekindled their friendship.
Over the years, Dhawan and Kapoor have collaborated on several films, including “ABCD 2” and “Street Dancer 3D,” garnering appreciation for their on-screen chemistry. Their camaraderie, rooted in childhood experiences, continues to resonate with audiences.
