Scary Movie Reboot Could Happen! Anna Faris Says Money and Her Co-Star Are Key

Fans of the wacky horror spoof franchise “Scary Movie” rejoice! Anna Faris, the actress who skyrocketed to fame in the original film, has hinted at a possible return for a reboot. There’s a catch, though. Faris, known for her comedic timing and fearless approach to physical humor, laid out two key conditions for her participation in an interview with People Magazine.

First and foremost, it seems Faris is a businesswoman. When asked what it would take to bring her back for another round of laughs and scares, her answer was simple and direct: “Well, money!” However, money isn’t the only motivator. Faris went on to express her desire to reunite with her on-screen partner-in-crime, Regina Hall, who played Brenda Meeks in the first four “Scary Movie” films. “I would love to work with Regina again,” Faris said. “We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”

Faris and Hall’s comedic chemistry was a major factor in the success of the early “Scary Movie” films. Their absence, along with a shift in focus, was seen as a contributing factor to the lackluster reception of “Scary Movie 5” in 2013.

The news comes on the heels of Paramount and Miramax announcing plans to reboot the franchise in April 2024. “Fast and Furious” producer Neal H. Moritz is attached to the project, giving fans hope that the reboot can recapture the magic of the earlier films.

Faris’ fondness for the franchise is clear. She credits the “Scary Movie” films with giving her a comedic foundation. “Those four movies played an important role in my life,” she told People. “In terms of teaching me how to use props, teaching me how to fall, how to get hit in the head — how to hold Chiclets in my mouth and then spit them out with blood at a convenient time for the camera,” she laughed.

Whether Faris’ conditions are met and a reunion with Hall becomes a reality remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: with Faris’ interest piqued, the possibility of a hilarious “Scary Movie” reboot is no longer just a scream in the dark.
