Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 Dominates IMAX Screens, Outshining Hollywood Rivals

In a unsurprising turn of events, the highly-anticipated Bollywood action blockbuster, “Tiger 3,” starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi, is set to take the Indian box office by storm as it secures prime IMAX releases at the expense of Hollywood’s “The Marvels,” scheduled to debut on November 10. The revelation comes from a recent report by The Wrap.

All eyes are on “Tiger 3” as it prepares to roar into action across all 23 IMAX theaters in India this Diwali in 2023. Renowned journalist and box office expert, Jatinder Singh, highlighted in an article published by The Wrap that “Indian tentpole films have consistently outperformed many Hollywood blockbusters.” Singh even drew a parallel to the 1998 release of “Titanic,” which, despite its global success, failed to secure the top spot at the Indian box office, falling short to Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji’s “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” directed by Karan Johar.

With Diwali being a national holiday, “Tiger 3” is anticipated to make a grand entrance with a spectacular opening, prompting IMAX to prioritize non-Hollywood blockbusters. This move signifies a growing trend where Indian cinema, encompassing both Bollywood and Tollywood (Telugu-language productions), continues to outshine its Hollywood counterparts on home turf.

In recent box office performances, movies like “Jawan” and “Pathaan” have significantly outperformed Hollywood hits like “Captain Marvel” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in India. However, Indian films are making their mark globally, with notable successes such as Aamir Khan’s “Dangal” in China and the impressive earnings of “RRR” in the United States and Japan.

With “Tiger 3” poised to make waves on Diwali, it’s clear that Indian cinema’s dominance shows no signs of slowing down, challenging the status quo in the world of entertainment.
