Netflix Brings Back ‘Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal’ For Second Season

Netflix announced the renewal of the true crime television series ‘Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal’ for a second season.

The American streaming giant will be releasing the second of the three-part documentary series on September 20, 2023,

Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal season 2, directed by Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason, focuses on one of the most poignant murder cases in recent years, in which famous South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh was accused of the atrocious murders of his wife and son.

In March 2023, Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to life imprisonment for fatally shooting his wife with a rifle and also his son with a shotgun.

The announcement of the renewal is in the same week in which Alex Murdaugh reportedly agreed to plead guilty to federal fraud charges in a different case.

Season 2 of Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal will offer first-person narratives from people who were present in the days preceding and following the killings, providing greater insight into that tragic night, including Former Murdaugh Family Housekeeper Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson and Caregiver for Libby Murdaugh Mushelle “Shelly” Smith who were some of the most potent witnesses at the trial.

Paul’s ex-girlfriend, Morgan Doughty, Paul’s friend, Anthony Cook, and Wall Street Journal reporter, Valerie Bauerlein, will also be making a reappearance in the second season.

Michael Gasparro and Julia Willoughby Nason will serve as director and executive producer for Season 2. ‘Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal’ has acquired positive reviews mostly from critics.
