Neeraj Pandey Pays Homage to Bollywood Classic with Upcoming Thriller “Sikandar Ka Muqaddar”

Set to stream on Netflix from November 29, the crime thriller stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Avinash Tiwary, and takes inspiration from a beloved Amitabh Bachchan film.

Director Neeraj Pandey has announced that his latest film, Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, draws inspiration from the 1978 Bollywood hit Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, starring Amitabh Bachchan. This new film is a high-energy crime thriller featuring Jimmy Sheirgill, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Avinash Tiwary in lead roles and will premiere on Netflix on November 29.

Pandey shared that Muqaddar Ka Sikandar was one of his childhood favorites, a film that left a lasting impression on him. He fondly remembered the commitment of its iconic cast, including Raakhee, Vinod Khanna, and Rekha, and their seamless performances. “Only when you’re that prepared can it happen,” he remarked, emphasizing the dedication required from actors to capture that kind of magic on screen.

Reflecting on his experience working with the cast of Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, Pandey highlighted his fast-paced, focused approach on set. “When you’re on set, you’re continuously working. It’s a very focused set,” he explained.

Although the film shares its title with the Bachchan classic, Pandey clarified it doesn’t follow the same genre but serves as a tribute to a movie beloved by his generation.

Pandey also expressed his excitement about the project, especially after recently completing Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. When he read the script for Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, he felt an immediate connection. “We had a lot of discussions, and then finally, the dialogue draft came. I was really excited. We all worked hard, and we enjoyed it,” he added, hinting at the intense collaboration behind the scenes.
