Madonna’s Midas Touch: Pop Icon Gives ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ a Blessing

Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy reveal the Queen of Pop’s pivotal role in shaping the blockbuster

Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy have spilled the beans on a truly iconic collaboration. The dynamic duo behind the highly anticipated *Deadpool & Wolverine* admitted to going the extra mile to secure the rights to **Madonna’s** timeless anthem, “Like a Prayer,” for their Marvel masterpiece.

In a candid conversation on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, the pair revealed that securing the iconic track was no easy feat. Madonna’s legendary status and the song’s cultural significance meant that a simple request wouldn’t suffice. Instead, Reynolds and Levy embarked on a personal mission, meeting with the music icon herself to pitch their vision.

“It was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it,” Reynolds emphasized. The team presented Madonna with a detailed breakdown of how “Like a Prayer” would be integrated into the film, leaving a lasting impression on the pop superstar.

But the surprises didn’t end there. Madonna, known for her creative prowess, offered invaluable input on the sequence. As Reynolds put it, “She gave a great note.” Levy added, “We literally went into a new recording session within 48 hours to implement her suggestions.”

With a star-studded soundtrack featuring *NSYNC, The Goo Goo Dolls, Fergie, Avril Lavigne, Aretha Franklin, Green Day, and even a nod to Hugh Jackman’s musical *The Greatest Showman*, *Deadpool & Wolverine* is set to be a sonic extravaganza.

*Deadpool & Wolverine* hits theaters on July 26.
