Fantastic Four To Be A Big Pillar For The MCU , Says Kevin Feige

AntMan and the Wasp : Quantumania hits the theatres today. It starts Phase 5 and leading the way is Kang the COnqueror played by Jonathan Majors. He is the next big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios sat down with Entertainment Weekly and discussed in length the present and the future of the MCU. He starts with singing praises of Jonathan Majors. He says – ‘ I mean, The Last Black Man in San Francisco was a huge reason we cast him. [Quantumania director] Peyton Reed was a proponent of Jonathan’s from the very start. We knew we were casting him for at least Loki season 1 and Quantumania at the same time. Working with both the Loki team and Peyton and the Quantumania team, we thought Jonathan would be incredible for their different incarnations of those characters. And spoiler: He was.

Next topic that came up in the interview was Kamala Khan aka Ms Marvel played by Iman Vellani who stars in the next installment in the MCU – The Marvels , where her co-stars include Brie Larson , Tey and Lashana Lynch . The movies hits the theatres on July 28.

He compares to Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan to Tom Holland’s Spider Man. ‘The great thing about Kamala in her show, and now in this movie, is that she’s not unlike Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Civil War. She can’t believe she’s with these other heroes, and can’t believe that she finds herself in these places. And that’s fun because we want to be that. I want to be that.’

SpiderMan too has a future in the MCU. According to Feige, the writing has begun on the movie and there are big ideas for the web slinging hero. The deal with Sony has always been an issue for Feige but given this statement , all must be good between the two media giants.

Since MCU fordayed into the television arena one constant criticism that has followed them is QUANTITY OVER QUALITY. Kevin Feige seems to heard the critique and now Marvel will be spacing out there TV shows rather than overloading the audience with content. At the time of writing this article rumours spread that only Loki Season 02 and What If Season 02 would be coming out in 2023 as while Echo , Ironheart are getting delayed.

Talking about X-Men , Feige emphasized that the structure is in place for the debut of the franchise. He stated that Reed Richards and his team Fantastic Four would be at the forefront of this franchise.

‘We sort of talked about mutants and that whole aspect to the Marvel world, but Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics. There’s certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that’s something that is really exciting for us. People will start to hear more about that soon. We plan on that being a big pillar of the MCU going forward, just the way they’ve been in the comics for 50 or 60 years.’

A lot is riding on the success of Antman and the Wasp : Quantumania as it begins the Phase 5 of the MCU which leads the Multiverse Saga. Thor:Love and Thunder and Wakanda Forever were relative bombs in the box office and Feige will be hoping that AntMan breaks that unwanted trend.
