Delhi HC Grants Interim Injunction in Amitabh Bachchan Case

Amitabh Bachchan’s name, appearance, voice, and personality traits cannot be exploited without the senior actor’s consent, the Delhi High Court declared in a landmark decision. This decree was made in response to a petition the actor from the film “Uunchai” submitted “against the world at large” in an effort to preserve his “name, image, voice, and personality qualities.”

Ameet Naik and Madhu Gadodia, attorneys from the reputable Mumbai law firm Anand and Naik who also represent Amitabh Bachchan, spoke with ETimes. “This groundbreaking decision would forbid anyone from utilising the name, image, voice, and other personality traits of Mr. Bachchan without his agreement and licence by any means, physical or digital,” said Ameet Naik, Joint Managing Partner of Anand and Naik. Amitabh Bachchan is the ideal celebrity to set this trend in the development and evolution of Indian law on personality rights.”
