Deadpool & Wolverine Debuts in China with Grand Shanghai Promotion
Stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Director Shawn Levy Launch International Tour
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, alongside director Shawn Levy, kicked off the international promotional tour for Deadpool & Wolverine in Shanghai this week, celebrating the first time a film in the franchise will be released in China.
The trio entertained a full house, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and showing 35 minutes of the film, which was met with continuous laughter and applause. Reynolds expressed his gratitude on social media, saying, “Shanghai was the first stop on the #DeadpoolAndWolverine tour — and we thank you from the heart of our bottom. What a city and what a welcome.”
They were also seen by a giant Deadpool statue along the Huangpu River and visited a Deadpool & Wolverine-themed pop-up store on Wukang Road, open until July 7.
China’s Film Bureau has approved a July 26 release for Deadpool & Wolverine, coinciding with the U.S. release. This marks the first simultaneous China and global release for the franchise, as the original Deadpool never released in China, and Deadpool 2 was shown in a modified PG-13 version as Once Upon a Deadpool months after its international debut.

Although Deadpool & Wolverine has undergone minimal edits, sources assure that the integrity of the story and the film’s signature spirit remain intact.
Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy will continue their tour, heading to Korea next. Jackman shared his excitement on social media, posting, “Ending day 2 on our #DeadpoolAndWolverine promo tour with two of my best mates at a baseball game in Korea?! If this is a dream, I don’t want to wake up anytime too soon.”
The international release of Deadpool & Wolverine starts on July 24, with the U.S. and China releases on July 26. Box office projections indicate a strong opening, with expectations of $160M-$165M domestically, potentially setting a record for an R-rated movie.
Wasn’t expecting to be in this beautiful ballpark watching baseball in Seoul, Korea. But it happened. No take backs. ⚔️🇰🇷⚔️ #DeadpoolAndWolverine pic.twitter.com/0uDS80kyiC
