Premalu, a delightful Malayalam romantic comedy featuring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, has taken the box office by storm since its premiere on February 17. With earnings soaring to approximately 150 crores, it swiftly earned the badge of a blockbuster. Its popularity only surged further with Telugu and Tamil dubs, widening its audience reach.

Last week, Premalu made its eagerly awaited debut on Disney+ Hotstar, greeted with overwhelming enthusiasm by viewers. The anticipation reached new heights when Bhavana Studios, the film’s production house, unveiled the official sequel, accompanied by a captivating title poster. Fans were left ecstatic by the announcement, expressing their anticipation for “Premalu 2” with comments like, “The Biggest RomCom blockbuster ever in Malayalam Cinema will be back in 2025! Let’s Premalu 2” (sic).

Premalu 2 is set to be a collaborative effort between Bhavana Studios, Working Class Hero, and Fahadh Faasil and Friends. Red Giant Movies has secured the Tamil rights for the film, with its release slated for 2025. Girish AD, the writer, and director behind the original installment, returns to helm the sequel. The reunion doesn’t stop there, as Vishnu Vijay is back to compose the soundtrack, while the original cast, including Naslen, Mamitha Baiju, Sangeeth Prathap, Syam Pushkaran, and Akhila Bhargavan, are expected to reprise their beloved roles.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Hyderabad, Premalu is a creation of Girish AD, who not only directed but also co-wrote the script alongside Kiran Josey. Alongside Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast featuring Althaf Salim, Shyam Mohan, Akhila Bhargavan, Meenakshi Raveendran, Sangeeth Prathap, and Shameer Khan.

The on-screen chemistry between Naslen and Mamitha Baiju has resonated deeply with audiences, adding to the film’s charm and appeal. Premalu made its grand entrance just before Valentine’s Day, adding an extra layer of romance to the season.
