Alicia Vikander Opens Up About Motherhood Struggles and Historical Role

Actress Reveals Challenges of Pregnancy and Portraying Childbirth

Alicia Vikander has candidly discussed the challenges of motherhood and the pressures of portraying childbirth on screen. The Oscar-winning actress, who recently welcomed her second child, admitted to feeling like an “imposter” while filming birth scenes before experiencing it herself.

Vikander shared her experiences in an interview with Elle, revealing that she gave birth four times on screen before becoming a mother. “It was incredibly difficult to pretend to go through something so profound without having lived it,” she confessed. “I felt a deep sense of respect for all women who have given birth.” The actress also touched on the physical demands of pregnancy, comparing it to a marathon and expressing admiration for all mothers.

Beyond her personal life, Vikander also discussed her role as Katherine Parr in the historical drama “Firebrand.” The actress admitted to being shocked by the lack of knowledge about Parr, the sixth and final wife of King Henry VIII, and the significant impact she had on British history. Vikander’s research into Parr’s life allowed her to connect with the character on a deeper level, highlighting the emotional trauma women endured during that era.
