Ajay Devgn Announces ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ Release Date

Mrunal Thakur joins the comedy-action sequel hitting cinemas on July 25, 2025; Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Mishra return in pivotal roles

Ajay Devgn just made it official—Son of Sardaar 2 is arriving in theatres on July 25, 2025. The actor took to Instagram to share a powerful new image of himself donning a turban, captioning it, “The Return of the Sardaar #SOS2 in cinemas near you on 25th July. #SardaarIsBack.” With that, the sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar is officially in motion.

The film, backed by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and T-Series, is set to blend humor, high-octane action, and emotional drama. This time around, Mrunal Thakur steps in as the female lead, replacing Sonakshi Sinha from the original. Mrunal had teased fans recently with a clapboard shot from the sets, indicating the film is already deep into production.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 brings back Ajay Devgn in his fan-favorite role of Jassi. Sanjay Dutt also returns as the menacing Don, while Sanjay Mishra will now portray a character initially envisioned for Vijay Raaz, which was played by Ravi Kishan in the first film.

This long-awaited sequel arrives nearly 12 years after the original and is set to clash at the box office with Param Sundari, a romantic drama starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor.
