The much-awaited movie was announced in March 2021 and was finally released this July on Netflix. Jaadugar is a movie about magic, love, and sports, which may sound like a misfit, but it is what it is. The movie is directed by Sameer Sharma and written by Biswapati Sarkar.

Jaadugar is a story of a football enthusiast town called ‘Neemuch’. The story revolves pretty much around a boy named Meenu(played by Jitendra Kumar)  and his career, love, and duties. Meenu’s girlfriend breaks up with him citing the reason that he doesn’t listen. Meenu’s next love interest, Disha is a doctor, who is also the daughter of Meenu’s idol and ‘Guru Ji’. Meenu has been given a seemingly impossible by Disha’s father, Jaadugar Chopra. The task is to lead his team to the finals of Dhabolkar trophy. The team that we’re talking about is so dysfunctional that in the last season they scored just one goal, which was a self-goal! Nevertheless, Meenu decides to do everything in his reach to help his team reach the finals, however, they lose the final just by a matter of a few seconds.

There’s the growth in Meenu’s character, from a boy who just wants to ‘win’ love to a boy who knows how to love! The jokes are somewhere too subtle and might even sound boring at times. The writing is really good, but still gives an impression of a web series. The actors have done a brilliant job, Jitendra Kumar, Javed Jaffrey, Arushi Sharma, Manoj Joshi, and the whole football team, everyone played their part well. The movie falls short of creating a seamless narrative. The intermixing plots don’t seem to be amalgamating perfectly, and there seems room for more. Nevertheless, a good one-time watch, our rating for the film will be 3 on 5.
