Plot
The movie centers on two chubby females who meet at a low point in their lives and set out on a journey to regain their confidence together. While fashion designer Saira, aka Sonakshi Sinha, wants to start her line with an original concept, Rajshree, aka Huma Qureshi, aspires to become a sports presenter. She aspires to create clothing for all demographics, regardless of size.
Review
The topic of body shaming has previously been brought up in some movies. Double XL humorously conveys a critical message while sharing the same boat. It centres on two heavy girls whose parents want them to get married even though they have lofty aspirations.
The movie focuses on how society still holds on to the idea that someone’s body size is secondary to their goals and aspirations. In contrast to men, women are more frequently exposed to this mindset. Although the film by director Satram Ramani seeks to challenge this same mentality, the plot is too thin to support such a weighty subject.
Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi did an excellent job. Particularly Huma, who is known for her faultless acting, has managed to steal the show since her role seems far too familiar and authentic. Despite finding success in mainstream movies, Sonakshi deserves praise for taking on such a challenging role and pulling it off well. In terms of their performances and the plot, Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Radhavendra provide substantial assistance.
The message of Double XL is that what matters most is who you are on the inside, not your size or shape. The film never drags because of the upbeat music and clever language that keep us interested. But only the second half of the movie is engaging.

On November 4th, 2022, Double XL was released. Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, and Zaheer Iqbal are played in important roles. For this film, Satram Ramani served as the director. Mudassar Aziz, Ashwin Verde, and Bhushan Kumar contributed to its production. The final week of December 2022, or if not, the first week of January 2023, will see the release of this film on Netflix.
Double XL is an original and timely concept. The performers and filmmakers must have a lot of guts to create a plot around the topic. But the film’s potential is diminished by the poor screenplay and substandard production.
