Review

Bhediya, directed by Amar Kaushik, is one of the year’s most anticipated movies. In the lead roles are Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. The screenplay by Niren Bhatt also has some strong points, and the story is fresh and exciting. The author sprinkles many joyful and humorous moments throughout the story. He has also done a good job of incorporating the thrill factor. The dialogues by Niren Bhatt are excellent. The one-liners add humor and impact to various scenes.

The leadership of Amar Kaushik is good. Positives aside, he has managed the scope and the beautiful settings with panache. As a result, despite dealing with a serious subject, he prevents the movie from being too sad. The current problem is also dealt with delicately at the same time.

Bhediya gets off to a pretty gloomy start. The scenes of Bhaskar and Janardan entering are acceptable. Once the wolf attacks Bhaskar, the movie sets the tone. The next moments are passable but nothing special. It’s startling to see Janardan create a timeline of occurrences. The dramatic interlude occurs here. After the break, the movie improves as a wolf wearing only his underwear attacks Janardan and Jomin. The following scene is also remarkable. The resolution is compelling and even touching.

Varun Dhawan devotes his entire being to the part. To take on a role of this nature is a hazardous choice, but Varun lets go of his inhibitions, and you have to see it to believe what he has accomplished. Kriti Sanon is talented and has a lovely appearance. Although her character is essential, she only gets a little screen time.

The film’s soul, Abhishek Banerjee, is a significant factor in the humor. Although Deepak Dobriyal also makes an impression, one wishes he had more of a say in the outcome. The impact of Paalin Kabak is enormous, and his explosion in the second half is praiseworthy. Wasted is Saurabh Shukla. The best is Madang Pai and Dosam Beyong. Great cameo appearances by Rajkummar Rao and Aparshakti Khurana.

The cinematography of Jishnu Bhatacharjee is superb. Lensman does an excellent job of capturing the previously unseen locations—rich production design by Mayur Sharma and Apurwa Sondhi. Kunal Sharma did a superior sound design. The gorgeous yet accurate clothes of Sheetal Iqbal Sharma are stunning. One of the best VFX in a Bollywood movie has been created by MPC. Sharp editing by Sanyukta Kaza.

Rating – Four out of five stars
