PLOT

Two parallel love stories take place in Dalhousie and London, respectively. They are both destroyed.
In contrast to their traditional families and the expectations of society, the characters in Anurag’s Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat explore the innocent and carefree feel of love.

REVIEW

Anurag Kashyap is a loving boy who yearns to write a love narrative that explores all the highs and lows of romance. He discovers the “Ishq Da Rang” in “Grey Wala Shade” and a rational space between Leni and Dev in “DevD.”

In Kashyap’s tale, two sensitive young people elope to attend a concert hosted by their favorite DJ, Mohabbat. Although Anurag’s story in London is intense and passionate, it seems like it needs to be more active and worthwhile.

His attempts to poke fun at Love Jihad, homophobia and religious extremism are unsuccessful due to the translation, which results in a defeat. When Yakub selects Dharam as his religion in Kashyap’s talk from Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat, it is essential to pay attention.

In the Dalhousie adaptation of the story, Alaya F highlights the naivety of a 16-year-old student. Karan Mehta portrays a naive Muslim adolescent juggling life as Yakub in Dalhousie and Harmeet in London. With the assistance of Vishal and Gulzar, Vicky Kaushal shines as DJ Mohabbat, reciting Anurag’s words.

As a director, Anurag Kashyap gets his kicks from trying new things whenever possible. Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat has a unique plot and structure, unlike any other Anurag Kashyap film. Even though it bears his stamp, there are several areas where it appears to be stapled, which is unsettling. With all of his conviction, he sets out to tell a tale, but his vision for how it would appear on-screen needs to be revised. However, it is commendable that he now knows how to wrap up his movies.

Once more, Amit Trivedi and Anurag Kashyap work together to produce a distinctive album with room for improvement. Even though it still needed to compete with Manmarziyaan and Bombay Velvet, a lot of effort was made into creating an album that was fitting for the time period in which the movie is set. The highlight is Mohabbat Se Kranti, although Duniya is also a fantastic song. Richa Sharma’s return for an unexpected track by Trivedi deserves praise.

Rating – Three out of five stars.

But beyond that, it utterly fails to make this movie an enjoyable and intensely engaged experience.
Anurag Kashyap is the film’s director. Starring in it are Navnindra Behl, Vicky Kaushal, Alaya F, and Karan Mehta. It is made by Ajay Rai, Dhruv Jagasia, Kabir Ahuja, Akshay Thakker, and Ranjan Singh. On February 3rd, 2023, the film was released. In March 2023, it will be made available only through Netflix.
